GTA 6 Fans Flooded a Real Nudist Resort With Fake Reviews, Then Someone Demanded Money to Remove Them

The clip at the centre of this mess is one of the stranger moments of the August leak wave: Jason standing in a nudist town, binoculars in hand. Fans set about identifying the real-world basis the way they have for every other frame, and the trail led to Cypress Cove, a family-run nudist resort in Kissimmee, Florida, with a nine hole golf course, tennis courts, kayaking and a restaurant. Our leak coverage logged the in-game nudist resort when the clip first surfaced.

That identification would normally end as a fun footnote in a mapping spreadsheet. Instead it migrated to Google Maps, where the resort’s listing began filling with reviews written in character.

Hundreds of fake Google reviews hit the resort’s listing, referencing Jason Duval, Lucia, binoculars and firearms. For a small family business that lives on bookings, a review score diluted by roleplay is a real cost, and the owners eventually posted a public explanation of what was happening to their page.

Then it turned darker. Reporting on the incident says people began contacting the resort demanding money to remove the fake reviews, which moves the story from fan mischief to something closer to extortion. The resort says Rockstar confirmed it has no connection to the game, which is true of every real business in Florida and no help at all when your listing is full of reviews about a fictional fugitive with binoculars.

The same sleuthing energy produced a much cleaner result. An Instagram user known as Pretty Boy worked out the real building behind Jason and Lucia’s apartment in Vice City, anchoring the search with the light blue Quantum on the Bay condo tower visible in official material and matching the view angles from there.

The building was the Belmar, a small condominium on a triangular lot opposite Margaret Pace Park with views over Biscayne Bay. Built in 1973 with just thirteen units, it was sold in a twelve million dollar bulk deal in 2022 and demolished. An archived Zillow listing preserves the interiors, and the layout matches the in-game apartment closely enough that the identification has stuck. Rockstar’s scouting once again predates the wrecking ball, the same pattern the mapping community found with the Naples pier.

Both stories are the same phenomenon at different temperatures. GTA 6 renders real Florida closely enough that fans can find the source of almost anything, and the game is popular enough that those findings spill back into the real world, sometimes as harmless archaeology on a demolished condo, sometimes as a review bomb with an invoice attached. Somewhere between the two sits every Florida business that happens to resemble a polygon in Leonida, hoping the crowd never notices.
