Sea Races

No trailer or preview has shown a water race yet, so sea races sit at expected rather than confirmed. The ingredients are all there though: jet skis, speedboats and a state that is half water.

Why this is only expected

The honest position: nothing in the trailers, the Extended Look or the preview coverage shows a race on water. What is confirmed is everything around one. Jet skis and boats are all over the official material, and the leak clips added speedboats and what looks like a rental operation on Vice Beach.

A map built for it

Leonida is laced with canals, mangrove channels, sheltered flats and open Atlantic, and the Keys hang off the bottom like a ready-made race calendar. GTA 5 ran its sea races in Seasharks and speedboats over checkpoint courses, with wave physics separating good lines from bad ones; dropping that system into this geography is the least surprising thing Rockstar could do.

Water racing is also old series blood. Vice City had checkpoint boat challenges in 2002, and the original top-down games flirted with the idea even earlier.
