Scuba Diving

GTA 5 made the ocean floor a place worth visiting, and GTA 6 has already shown it is going further: official screenshots from the Leonida Keys package picture scuba divers swimming past coral reefs, sea turtles, eels and reef fish, and the Extended Look gives the activity its first gameplay footage, with stingrays gliding past and a sea that previewers describe as vividly lit and busy with life. A Florida setting full of reefs and shallows gives the activity far more to work with than the murky seabed of Los Santos. Diving is also one of the things Jason and Lucia can do together, with Rockstar pointing to it as an example of the casual, self-made dates the relationship system allows.

Diving revolves around managing oxygen while you search the seabed, and the Extended Look confirms that air is now a real resource: an oxygen-tank meter sits in the top-left of the HUD while underwater. That is a break from GTA 5, where the scuba suit’s oxygen effectively lasted forever once you had the gear. Reefs, sunken boats and underwater caches would give the activity a clear loop of explore, find and surface, tying into both wildlife and hidden-collectible systems, though Rockstar has not yet shown what is down there to find.

Underwater exploration arrived properly in GTA 5, where buying scuba gear let you scour the seabed for nuclear waste and other finds. GTA 6 carrying that forward into warmer, clearer water would make diving feel like a headline feature rather than a niche one.

Scuba diving, kayaking and fishing together form a layered water-activities suite, and analysis of the leaked Leonida map points the same way, listing underwater exploration among the activities identified from its points of interest.
