Overview
GTA IV’s pool was a quietly excellent mini-game and a favourite way to kill time between missions. Bringing it back to Vice City’s bars would restore one of the most-missed social activities, with the dim, neon-lit interiors giving it the perfect backdrop.
How it works
Pool plays on aim, power and spin: line up the cue, set the strength of the strike and account for english to control the cue ball afterwards. GTA IV’s version was full eight-ball, and a modern take would likely keep that while smartening up the physics.
In the series
Pool debuted as a friend activity in GTA IV and has been absent from the mainline games since. Its expected return, usually mentioned in the same breath as fighting, reflects how strongly that era’s low-key pastimes still resonate.
Trivia
Pool and fighting are the headline GTA IV revivals on most fan lists, two reminders that not every wanted feature has to be a brand-new invention.
