A Warehouse Worker in Mexico May Have Just Leaked the GTA 6 Collector’s Edition Box

+5 XP for Sharing

Photos posted and deleted by a packaging plant worker in Mexico appear to show a black GTA 6 collector’s edition box marked Vice City Leonida. Rockstar has announced nothing, but the details line up with how past collector’s editions launched.

Quick take
  • X user Alexi0982 posted photos on September 9 claiming a month of packaging work at Unique Services Group in Mexico, then deleted everything, as covered by Metro and Beebom.
  • The photos show a glossy black box, the GTA VI palm logo, and Vice City Leonida lettering that matches the Ultimate Edition’s Mac the Dinosaur shirt design.
  • The worker describes a box larger than a PS5 console box with several sections and a circular recess, and says production runs until November.
  • GTA 6 currently has no disc, no physical edition beyond a code in a box, and no announced collector’s edition, so nothing here is confirmed until Rockstar says so.

A Deleted Post From a Packaging Plant

On Tuesday September 9, an X account named Alexi0982 posted something Rockstar has never announced: photos of what he called the Grand Theft Auto VI collector’s edition, taken inside a packaging plant in Mexico. The poster said he had spent about a month working on the production line at Unique Services Group, a Mexican company whose website advertises premium and collector’s edition packaging, and that he was never asked to sign a non disclosure agreement. He backed the claim with a photo of an employee badge reading Unique Services Group S.A. de C.V. The posts were deleted soon after, but not before accounts like iGrandTheftAuto archived them and the story spread through Metro, Beebom and Notebookcheck.

The usual caveats apply, and they are bigger than usual. Nothing about the box has been confirmed by Rockstar, and Metro’s coverage runs through the full menu of possibilities: a real collector’s edition, a press kit destined for influencers, some other promotional item that will never be sold, or an outright fake. We treat it as an unverified leak until something official lands.

From the deleted Alexi0982 posts: finished boxes wrapped and stacked inside the plant, with the Vice City Leonida print showing through the plastic.

What the Photos Actually Show

The two low quality photos show a glossy black box with the minimalist GTA VI palm tree logo on the side. The top reads Vice City in the GTA 6 typeface with Leonida beneath it in classic pink Vice City styling, a logo that matches the Mac the Dinosaur shirt seen in the Ultimate Edition bonus screenshots, right down to the vector shapes according to fan design account GTA GFX. A second photo shows a pallet stacked with roughly thirty to fifty identical boxes.

The worker’s description adds the details the photos cannot show. He says the box is larger than a PlayStation 5 console box, is divided into several sections inside, is more colourful on the inside than the black exterior suggests, and contains a circular recess that a disc could sit in. He also claimed production runs until November and that finished editions are already being distributed worldwide, which would put any release uncomfortably close to, or even after, the November 19 launch.

The Disc Question

That circular recess is doing a lot of work in the community discussion, because GTA 6 currently has no physical edition at all. The standard boxed release is a code in a box, there is no disc, no steelbook and no printed map with any announced edition, and the only physical GTA 6 product Sony has revealed is the $84.99 DualSense controller. When those controllers were shown at the State of Play, the chat was flooded with the words no disc, no buy. A recess shaped like a disc is not a disc, and a press kit could use the same tray for a coin or a medallion, but it is the first physical object in this entire marketing cycle that even gestures at one.

What Past Collector’s Editions Suggest

History says none of this is far fetched. Rockstar announced the GTA V collector’s edition, with its security deposit bag and blueprint map, months after standard pre orders opened, and the Red Dead Redemption 2 collector’s box arrived stuffed with a metal tithing box, a treasure map, playing cards, a pin set, a bandana and a jigsaw, famously without the game itself. Announcing a collector’s edition after pre orders are already live is the studio’s established pattern, and with two months to launch, the window for one more merchandise reveal is still open. If the box is real, an announcement should not be far away.
