Ernesto exists in the Extended Look as a voice on a speakerphone, and still manages to be one of its most consequential characters. His call to Raymond mid-meeting is the hinge of the whole first act: my friends on the task force are on their way, they said they are paying you a visit, just let them take whatever they want. Moments later the raid hits and Jason and Lucia are shooting their way out of a tower block.

The phrasing is the interesting part. Ernesto never says bust, arrest or warrant. He says take. That single word choice paints the Mendez unit as a robbery crew with badges and Ernesto as a man wired into them closely enough to know their schedule, whatever his actual job turns out to be.

The call is not a friendly heads-up between partners. Raymond’s instant response is a threat: he reminds Ernesto that he keeps someone sitting outside his mother’s house. Whatever binds these two, it is leverage rather than loyalty, and it sketches a working relationship where Ernesto informs because he has to, not because he wants to. It is a lot of characterisation for a man with no face and about fifteen seconds of dialogue.

This part is community speculation, so treat it accordingly. Multiple breakdown channels flagged the voice as a possible return for Julian Rebolledo, the actor behind Raul Passos in Max Payne 3 and several other Rockstar roles. Rockstar has form for bringing back its repertory cast between games, which keeps the theory alive, but no casting has been confirmed and the voice remains officially unidentified.
