Overview

Lucia is the first female protagonist in a mainline Grand Theft Auto game. Trailer 1 introduces her inside a Leonida state correctional facility; a counselor (later revealed as Stefanie G.) asks what she plans to do differently this time, and Lucia answers in voiceover that she has to take her opportunities as they come.

Rockstar’s own description around the Extended Look calls her a fighter who was recently released from prison. The published backstory adds that she learned to fight from her father and went to prison for fighting for her family; commentators read her as someone with something to prove. By Trailer 2 she is on the outside, wearing an electronic ankle monitor while doing community service and picking up roadside trash. Press previews confirm the ankle tag is not just set dressing: it plays a notable part in the story and is key to how she and Jason are brought together. She partners with Jason Duval for an escalating crime spree across the fictional state of Leonida.

Story so far

The trailers frame Lucia and Jason as a modern Bonnie and Clyde. She is shown robbing a liquor store with Jason, riding through Vice City on a yellow sport bike, and working a heist alongside professional bank robber Raul Bautista.

The Extended Look fills in the shape of their early partnership. Lucia and Jason open the showcase on a drug pickup for Boobie Ike, share an apartment in Crosstown with photographs of the two of them on the fridge, and meet Brian and Lori Heder at the Effluvia rooftop bar, where Brian has a job that only needs one of them. Lucia takes it. She is behind the wheel when the couple collects Raul from a bank getaway, and when she needles him about whether his jobs always go to plan, Raul replies that there will always be complications and that a professional adapts, then asks whether she is a professional. Her reply is 'Of course', and Raul says he needs a professional. A montage over Brian’s dialogue shows the couple robbing Hank’s Waffles, a convenience store and a jewellery store together, and fencing a stolen car.

Multiple shots place her at Brian Heder’s marina in the Leonida Keys, suggesting Brian’s smuggling operation is a recurring source of work. The Trailer 2 voiceover from Lucia about the two of them only getting through this if they stick together reinforces a two-handed protagonist structure, and the Extended Look adds that the pair are tracked separately by the game’s criminal profile system, so Lucia’s reputation can diverge from Jason’s within a single playthrough.

Fighting style

Lucia’s fighter background shows up directly in play. The Extended Look has her take down an opponent bare-handed in a melee encounter, with her boxing training giving her a fast, agile style, and a separate shot shows her working a heavy bag until she is visibly sweating. Several viewers read her as the more capable hand-to-hand fighter of the two protagonists, and one breakdown noticed that her health bar appears shorter than Jason’s, which if accurate would fit a character built around mobility rather than durability. She is also shown one-handing a pump-action shotgun through an apartment block because her other arm is pinned under a duffel bag of loot, pumping and firing with a single hand.

Appearance

Lucia wears multiple outfits across the trailers: orange prison-issue clothing, a brown leather jacket over a white tank, and a flowing red-orange evening dress at a Vice Beach party. She is consistently shown with long dark hair pulled back, hoop earrings and a gold pendant necklace.

Trivia

Her surname, Caminos, is Spanish for roads or paths. Rockstar has not announced a voice actress.

The Trailer 1 cold open inside the prison is the first time a GTA protagonist is introduced behind bars rather than in transit or in the field.

A popular but unconfirmed theory holds that Lucia originally comes from Liberty City. Fans point to her initials, L.C., and to the Liberty City Swingers sports bag she carries in the Extended Look; Swingers jerseys also appear on background characters, so the branding alone proves nothing.

Lucia was absent from the August 2026 leaked gameplay, which showed only Jason playable, prompting speculation about a Lucia-led prologue that never surfaced. The Extended Look settled the wider question by putting her on screen as a fully playable lead: driving the getaway, fighting hand to hand, clearing a building with a shotgun and pulling up her own inventory and outfit menus during a robbery.
