Cal Hampton

Cal is a Keys regular shown at The Rusty Anchor bar with Jason. Rockstar's official character art and Trailer 2 frames present him as a heavyset, easygoing conspiracy theorist who keeps a radio scanner tuned to Coast Guard chatter.

His official portrait places him at a tropical mini-golf course in a loud green floral shirt, putter in hand. A second studio still shows him at The Rusty Anchor pool table next to Jason.

Cal is positioned as one of Jason’s civilian-side anchors: bar friend, sounding board, and the kind of contact who calls in odd tips. The Coast Guard radio detail hints at a useful role in Keys-based smuggling missions, and one Extended Look breakdown reads a figure in a screenshot of a floatplane getaway on the water as Cal helping run diversions for police boats, although that is an interpretation rather than anything Rockstar has confirmed.

The Extended Look also hands Cal its last word. Over the closing montage he tells Jason and Lucia that it might not feel like it, but these are their glory days, that nothing will beat who they are now, that they cannot see everything looming on the horizon, and that if this moment were all there ever was it would be perfect. Nearly every breakdown treats the speech as foreshadowing for the couple, in the same vein as Brian Heder’s warning to know when to get off, and several also read it as Rockstar speaking to the audience about the pre-launch moment itself.

Elsewhere in the showcase Cal turns up in the activities montage wearing a VR headset, a gag most viewers identified as him, and he is on the boat when the closing shots show him fishing with Jason and Lucia.

Cal got his first leaked scene in the August 2026 wave: a daytime cutscene on a boat with Jason, the pair clinking Patriot beers while Jason toasts, 'Good living. Here’s to you, buddy. Enjoy your life till the men in suits decide to shut you up.' Cal’s reply instantly became the wave’s most quoted line: 'They don’t know nothing about me, man. I use a VPN.'

The set dressing plays to his character, with a sticker reading 'Born to fish, forced to work' and another showing a manatee-like creature, while Jason’s subtitled 'Fishing. I love fishing.' ties the scene to the confirmed fishing activity. A red C mission marker also sits on the minimap in nearly every leaked gameplay clip, widely read as a Cal mission thread running through the build. This wiki does not link or host leaked footage.

The official Extended Look later showed the same set-up from Rockstar’s side: Cal, Jason and Lucia fishing together from a boat, with dolphins in the background and a Vice City Manatees sticker on the hull, confirming that the leaked boat scene reflects real in-game content.

His shirt features a recurring "alien grey" cat print, one of several "Alien Cat" gags Rockstar has scattered through Trailer 2 merchandise.
