Fishing

With miles of coastline, mangrove channels and inland wetlands across Leonida, fishing is one of the most widely expected hobbies, offering a slow-paced contrast to the crime and a reason to invest in a boat.

Overview

A Florida-inspired map practically demands fishing, and it is one of the first hobbies fans listed after the setting was revealed. The appeal is calm: cast a line off a pier or from a drifting boat, watch the water, and let the side content breathe between the high-stakes story beats.

How it works

A typical fishing loop has you cast, wait for a bite, then fight the catch by managing line tension before reeling it in. Different spots and times of day would plausibly yield different species, tying neatly into the wildlife database, with the better catches worth more when sold.

In the series

Rockstar already nailed fishing in Red Dead Redemption 2, where it was a deep, satisfying mini-game. Bringing that same craft to Leonida’s waterways would give GTA 6 a ready-made template, and the studio’s track record makes a polished version a reasonable bet.

Trivia

Fishing pairs naturally with boating and scuba diving as part of a wider water-activities layer, hinting that Leonida’s seas are built to be played in, not just driven across.
