Fishing

Fishing is one of the few pastimes Rockstar has confirmed in its own words. The official product copy for the Shitzu Squalo speedboat calls it perfect for casting in Gambit Bay and reeling in catches of all sorts, a single line that confirms the activity and names a fishing spot at the same time. The Mount Kalaga description separately promises prime hunting, fishing and off-road trails, giving anglers freshwater options in the forested north as well as saltwater casting in the south.

A typical fishing loop has you cast, wait for a bite, then fight the catch by managing line tension before reeling it in. Rockstar has not yet shown tackle, species or whether catches can be sold, so the exact mechanics remain open, but different spots and times of day would plausibly yield different species, tying neatly into the wildlife database.

Rockstar already nailed fishing in Red Dead Redemption 2, where it was a deep, satisfying mini-game. Bringing that same craft to Leonida’s waterways would give GTA 6 a ready-made template, and the studio’s track record makes a polished version a reasonable bet.

Fishing also appears in the wider activity roster published alongside the June 2026 pre-order listings, and analysis of the full Leonida map that leaked in August 2026 lists fishing among the activities identified from points of interest across the state.
