Mini Golf

Mini golf arrives as a brand-new pastime for the series, a kitschy, low-key roadside attraction that fits Vice City’s neon tourist-trap energy and gives players a relaxed multiplayer-friendly diversion.

Overview

Crazy-golf courses with windmills and fibreglass alligators are pure Florida roadside Americana, so a mini golf activity slots right into the Leonida vibe. It is a new one for the series and reads as a deliberately light, low-stakes way to pass the time.

How it works

A mini golf loop usually comes down to aiming, picking a power level and reading the angles off ramps and obstacles, scored over a set of holes. Its real strength would be as a social activity, the sort of thing a group can drop into between heavier sessions.

In the series

GTA 5 had full-size golf as a side-activity, but putt-putt is new territory. Choosing the goofier, more tourist-friendly version over a country club fits the tone Rockstar has set with the trailers, where the comedy is never far from the crime.

Trivia

Mini golf shares its newcomer status with kayaking, the two activities confirmed as franchise firsts rather than revivals of older mini-games.
