Kayaking

Unlike most of the activities returning from older games, kayaking is a genuine first for the series, and it is already visible in official material: Rockstar’s screenshots show kayaks being paddled down the rivers of Mount Kalaga. A small paddle craft fits Leonida’s geography perfectly, opening up the narrow, shallow mangrove channels that powerboats are too big to explore.

A kayak implies a more tactile control scheme than a motorboat, plausibly using paddle strokes on each side to steer and build momentum. Rockstar has not walked the mechanics through yet, and some analysts caution the pictured kayaks could still be NPC scenery, but the activity’s presence in the June 2026 pre-order activity roster points to it being playable.

GTA has had jet skis, dinghies and yachts, but never a purely human-powered boat. Adding one signals Rockstar wants the water to feel like a place you can simply spend time in, matching the slower, more textured tone of the rest of the side content.

Kayaking and mini golf are the two activities described as completely new to the franchise, and analysis of the leaked Leonida map adds weight, listing kayaking among the activities identified from the map’s points of interest.
