The Leonida Keys form a long arc of small islands stretching south and west from the mainland, connected by a single overseas highway. Rockstar describes the dress code as casual and the bars as loaded, with a deliberately easy pace and a tropical aesthetic of palm trees, marina decks, and pastel single story houses. The largest named island is Key Lento, a stand in for Key Largo. Underwater exploration is a major design pillar in the Keys, with the surrounding waters described as some of the most beautiful and dangerous in America, packed with reefs, shipwrecks, and hidden loot. The Extended Look shows scuba diving with an oxygen meter on the HUD, stingrays overhead and a brightly lit reef. The Trailer 2 footage of Jason and Lucia’s starting apartment is set here, making the Keys the most likely opening hub for the player.

The Extended Look confirms Jason’s initial safehouse in the Keys. Jason is shown playing basketball at a hoop in his driveway, hitting a fadeaway, in official footage of the same house that appeared in the leaked basketball clip, and basketball is now a confirmed side activity. A screenshot of a coffee table laid out with bullets, cash and a pistol, framed by bamboo blinds seen in an earlier trailer, is also set inside Jason’s Keys safehouse. Elsewhere in the archipelago Jason backflips off a jetty with dolphins in the distance, an iguana climbs a tree, and a boat pulls up to a small private island with tents on the beach.

One creator who attended the preview saw the full map for around three seconds under the fog of war and recalled what looked like an airport or some sort of base, possibly military, down in the Keys. That recollection is unconfirmed. It does line up with the August 2026 leaked map, where a small airfield appears at the far end of the chain and close-ups name Catalan Bay, Catalan Key and Gloriana Key alongside Key Lento. Rockstar has not acknowledged the leaked material.

Leonida Keys is drawn from the Florida Keys. The real Keys are a 120-mile coral island chain linked by the Overseas Highway's 42 bridges, running from Key Largo to Key West between the Atlantic and the Gulf.
