Shopping & Makeovers

Rob Nelson confirmed the details himself: shops stock items unique to their corner of the map, salons cut signature styles, and a fresh outfit can shake police heat. Fashion is mechanical this time.

Overview

IGN’s interview with Rob Nelson covered retail in unusual depth. Clothing shops carry stock unique to their part of the map, salons offer signature hairstyles, and clothes shopping with your partner appears on Eurogamer’s couple-activity list. Location-unique inventory quietly turns exploration into a wardrobe hunt.

Outfits that shed heat

The standout mechanic: buying a new outfit can drop police attention, which folds fashion directly into the chase systems. Duck into a boutique with two stars, walk out in different clothes, and the manhunt has a harder job. It is the first time a GTA has made the till a getaway tool.

The San Andreas bar

Every GTA wardrobe since 2004 has been graded against San Andreas, where clothes, cuts and physique all changed how NPCs treated CJ. Nelson’s comments read like a deliberate run at that standard. The business database maps the boutiques, pawn shops and salons where it will all happen.
