Rockstar Is Mailing GTA 6 Care Packages to Creators, and Fans Like Them More Than the 400 Dollar Box

The packages started surfacing on 30 September. TmarTn opened his on camera first, HollowPoiint followed the same day, and Jobless Garrett posted everything inside his box on X, with Sportskeeda rounding up the unboxings. The boxes are matte black with the Rockstar logo and a short With Compliments card, and they went to publications too: Kotaku’s Zack Zwiezen wrote that Rockstar sent him one as a thank-you for a decade of GTA coverage.

Contents vary from box to box. TmarTn’s held a blue Parody Shards tee, a blue and pink Rockstar Flexfit cap, a blue tote with the VI palm logo on the front and the stacked Grand Theft Auto logo on the back, a GTA VI Zippo and a pack of hologram stickers, per RockstarINTEL. Other boxes carried a Greetings from Vice City tee, one creator showed a white tee with a black Rockstar cap, and Kotaku’s package came with a pink canvas bag and stickers.

Every item in the boxes matches the unannounced product wave found in the Rockstar Store catalogue in late September, when GTAVice.net counted roughly 55 hidden listings through the store’s public API: fifteen GTA VI tees, nine parody shirts, five Rockstar tees, fourteen caps and hats and a shelf of smaller goods. The storefront itself has been rebuilt around a drop that still has not happened. Rockstar added a wishlist feature, first shared by CGHchannel, and wishlisted products now trigger restock and sale alerts by email. As of this weekend none of the package items can be bought, and Rockstar has not announced a date.

The free boxes landed in the middle of a sore spot. Rockstar’s paid collector box, Grand Theft Auto VI: The Goodtime State, Vice City Collection, costs 399.99 dollars, contains eleven items and does not include the game: a Macca the Gator figure, a magnetic mirror, Oakley Frogskins sunglasses, a crossbody bag, a New Era snapback, a shot glass, a swizzle spoon, a razor blade keychain, pins, stickers and a double-sided Leonida map poster.

Metro and Dexerto both rounded up fans calling the creator freebies better than the paid box, with several saying they would cancel their collector pre-orders. The complaint is consistent: the free package is clothing people would actually wear, while the 400 dollar box leans on novelty items, and neither Jason nor Lucia features prominently in it.

Right now the only official GTA 6 apparel on sale anywhere is the Miami Heat’s Vice City collection, live since 2 October alongside the Night in Vice City announcement, where several pieces sold out within the day. On Rockstar’s own store, everything beyond the collector box pre-order still reads Coming Soon.

The catalogue clearly runs deeper than shirts and caps. A first look at a Vice City Manatees football surfaced on 1 October through the fan account Nascarium, showing the team’s manatee mascot next to VI and Rockstar branding. It has not appeared in any creator box so far, which suggests the sports merchandise is being held for the store drop itself.
