Gloriana

By Map teamUpdated recently

Overview

Gloriana first surfaced on license plates seen in Trailer 2 and in several promotional screenshots. The state name, lettering style, and palm icon design are consistent with Georgia, and the mapping community has placed Gloriana directly north of Mount Kalaga National Park on its reconstructions. Some fans believe Gloriana will appear at launch as a smaller drivable buffer zone with rural towns and back roads, while others expect it to be referenced only through plates and signage, with the possibility of a future expansion making it fully playable. Rockstar has not commented publicly on whether Gloriana exists as a real region in the game world.

Evidence and Status

Gloriana has only been hinted at through in game license plates in Trailer 2 and a handful of promotional screenshots. Whether the state appears as a drivable region at launch, only through references on cars, or as a future expansion has not been confirmed by Rockstar. Liberty City has also been name dropped several times in Rockstar copy for GTA VI, including as the place Lucia originally came from.

Trivia

The state name Leonida is a deliberate echo of the real Florida state motto (Sunshine State) and the city of Leonida in classical Greek history, while Gloriana points at the historical name for the British monarch Queen Elizabeth I, often associated with Georgia, the US state Gloriana is modelled on.
